On World Ocean Day 2021, 100 youth activists came together at the Youth, Ocean and Climate Summit to discuss the most pressing issues of our time. The message to world leaders was loud and clear “Listen to the science. Step up, no more empty promises. We need concrete action.”

Young people have driven the climate movement, building incredible momentum and initiating necessary change. When world leaders gathered in the UK for two of the most substantial talks on the climate crisis - the G7 Summit and COP26 – young activists gathered for a Youth Climate Summit. At the summit, young people produced a manifesto for the ocean and climate and their futures. The Youth Ocean and Climate Manifesto combines the passion and ideas of 100 11-18 year olds from across the country, and will be used to hold those in power to account.

It is important, now more than ever, that we come together to put pressure on governments and raise awareness of the ocean and climate crisis. The future of people and planet depend on it.

This action packed, one-day virtual event, covered a range of activities hosted by some of the nation’s leading, influential youth activists, who make up the Youth Advisory Panel. Attendees set out their vision for the future, identified issues faced, and outlined their calls for change which will form the basis of the Youth Ocean and Climate Manifesto. Headline asks were delivered during an evening round table event to key decision makers:
