Northumbrian Water is a privatised water company in England, with shareholders primarily based in Hong Kong. They are regulated by Ofwat and the Environmental Agency.
In 2021, Northumbrian Water was issued a £540,000 fine from the Environmental Agency after pleading guilty to polluting a watercourse. They could pay this fine 200 times over with the money paid out to shareholders in 2021 alone!
