Join Us At The Big SAS Spring Beach Clean

This Sunday, between 11am and 2pm at Porthtowan beach (Cornwall) SAS needs your help!

More specifically, Porthtowan beach needs your help as it’s been neglected over the winter, just like the vast majority of beaches around the UK. It’s a case of out of sight out of mind as the majority of beaches users abandoned the beach until the sun comes out. Unfortunately, even without the vast swarms of people, litter still arrives in it’s droves. Marine litter is driven onshore during the winter months by storms, ocean currents and predominant winds. So there is lots to do and we need as many volunteers as possible to do it. It’s a simple relationship, the more helping hands we have, the more litter we can take off the beach.

The Big SAS Spring Beach Clean is a great opportunity to make a really difference to Porthtowan beach first hand, a great opportunity to be involved with an issue that effects our enjoyment of the beach and a great opportunity to be involved with an award winning campaign. The Return To Offender campaign returns all identifiable marine litter to the manufacturer, calling on them to improve their anti litter message and reduce their packaging/adopt low impact packaging. At the Big SAS Spring Beach Clean we’ll have the green SAS postbox for you to post all identifiable litter and be an effective part of the Return To Offender campaign.

With enough volunteers Porthtowan WILL look better at 2pm on Sunday the 1st and you WILL have a warm glowing satisfied feeling in your stomach. So please make the effort and turn up at Porthtowan at 11am, you’ll find us at the SAS tent on the beach.

As a sweetener for your time, the Blue Bar is offering free coffees to all the volunteers (thanks Blue!!!) and we’ve got a load of surfing goodies to give away to the best beach cleaners.

We’ll provide all the equipment, all you need to do is dress for the weather, and under 16s need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
