Isle Of Wight waveriders give an emphatic NO to harbor development

Over the weekend the Isle of Wight (IoW) community came out in force to protect Freshwater Bay from an inappropriate proposed harbor development. The public meeting hall was standing room only as hundreds of locals registered their concerns.

The meeting was called to gauge the public feeling for a proposed harbour wall that would destroy one of the IoW’s best waves, Freshwater Bay. The meeting was chaired by a local councillor who was in favour of the development. However, the locals ensured there was no mistaking the deep feeling within the community against any such proposals. During the meeting several votes were registered with 95% of attendees against the proposal.

SAS called on the waveriding community in the IoW to come out in force and we are stoked at their reaction. This gives the locals a strong foundation to protect their waves at Freshwater Bay and with any luck the development was dealt such a body blow it will not return. However, SAS are calling on the IoW waveriding community to be vigilant. You’ve done a great job in making your voices heard, now keep your eyes and ears open.
