Multi-year core and project funding has enabled us to establish, grow and innovate our education programmes.
The Moondance Foundation aims to prevent or relieve poverty; support the welfare and wellbeing of women, children, the elderly and the vulnerable in our society; improve health outcomes; raise educational standards; and preserve our environment for future generations.
The Moondance Foundation supports us with a core grant and also project funding to help deliver our education programmes including our Plastic Free Schools and Ocean School programmes.
Plastic Free Schools, the UK’s leading pupil-led education programme to tackle single-use plastic, has grown exponentially since its launch in 2017, with 190 schools signing up in its first academic year and over 3,000 schools – attended by over 1.2 million pupils – now making up the network. On top of this, we are delivering a two-week programme of Ocean School beach sessions targeting young people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to visit the beach. This funding is also enabling us to create an Ocean School Online Platform, and to design Ocean School Digital Field Trips – using an innovative 360 video and motion graphic technology, with accompanying resources and games – to provide a unique model of ocean exploration.
Funding from the Moondance Foundation has been transformational for SAS, helping us to grow and develop our organisation, with their current multi-year grant supporting us through until 2024.
