Name: Sam Bleakley

AKA: Bleakers

Age: 25

Local Break? Gwenver

Sponsors? Oxbow, Vans, Chris “Guts” Griffiths Surfboards

Greatest achievement in surfing? 2 X European Longboard Champion

How long have you been surfing? 20 years

What does surfing mean to you? Surfing is engrained in my soul. The ocean keeps me modest and humble and I admire her beauty and strength above all else. In the ocean you pretty much experience every emotion under the sun. Without surfing I would not be who I am today

Where around the world have you surfed? Indonesia, Philippines, China, Dominican Republic, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Brazil, New Zealand, Canary Islands, France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, USA, Morocco, South Africa…

Where are the most pristine waters you have surfed in? Gwenver

Where are the most disgusting waters you have surfed in? Las Palmas , Gran Canaria and Porthleven seven years ago

Why is SAS needed? To give ocean users a voice against politicians and developers, raise environmental awareness (especially crucial in our monoculture of mass consumerism and unsustainable lifestyles), prevent pollution and keep the waters safe, clean and healthy for future generations
