Surfers Against Sewage would like to welcome a new title sponsor to the Cornish and Open in 2007. After supporting SAS on a number of campaign and education activities in recent years O'Neill were delighted to be able to help us with this prestigious event.

Following last year's event the Cornish and Open is set once again to attract competitors from around the country and normally sees a few foreign entries too making it a highly competitive event.

The three day event held at Porthtowan is Europe's greenest surf contest with environmental talks, beach litter picks', eco-art workshops, recycled trophies and locally sourced organic food. It's also the longest running surf contest in the UK with its origins in the 60's.

This year's entertainment will be well suited for all the family throughout the day and we've laid on a cool art workshop making use of found materials which will be great fun for kids and adults who think they're kids! If you want to party then you've got to get down to the contest party held at the Blue Bar on Saturday night. This year's featured band is The Blimms and suffice to say they're blimming good!

Although surf conditions were fairly average last year there were some outstanding performances from competitors, notably from Australian female surfer, Darra Penfold, who took the Ladies Title. Other standout surfers included South African Luke Patterson who won the Open title.
